Spearheading Berkeley alumna Eliza Atkins Gleason was the primarily African American to acquire a doctorate in library science. She proceeded to teach #BlackLibrarians and work towards integrating libraries through her researchArchie Williams (1915– 93)— mechanical specialist, 1936 Berlin Olympics gold medalist, flying educator, Korean War veteran, secondary teacher, and class of '39 Cal alum.
